What was the highlight of Hotel Melva Suite Firgas
It is not a 4 star Hotel as advertised. But it is honest and okay. With excellent price.
The location of the Hotel is very remote, but is perfectly suitable as base for exploring the north and northwest of the Island. It is also not far from Las Palmas. The staff is helpful, motivated and nice. You will need a car for this one.
The rooms were a bit cold (in winter). The beds are a bit uncomfortable. The drain in the shower didnt work good. Other than that, everything was good and clean and to sum it up: It is perfectly okay to stay here, as long as you dont expect this to be a full scale ****-hotel with full scale breakfast etc..

The value for money is good. Very nice staff. The island is very beautiful. Maspalomas is perfect.
The manager Mr Jose is extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us a lot of good information, provided us with a detailed map and helped us a lot. He is very kind.
1) In the hotel profile, it was written that the hotel is situated 1,6 km from the city centre. This is VERY wrong. The distance to Las Palmas is close to 20 km and takes half an hour by car. Now for some reason the home page is changed to 9,3 miles which is correct but as we booked, it said 1,6 km. 2) The hotel is NOT situated in Firgas as written. It is situated in a small village 1-2 km outside Firgas. We spent 4 hours to find the hotel because we did not have any GPS, and nobody in the nearby area had ever heard about the hotel. We had to spend 10€ on a taxi to show is the way to the hotel. Bring a GPS - otherwise you will never find the hotel. 3) The hotel is basically closed down, lights shut off and the hotel is basically inacessible after approx 22 o’clock. There is no staff available at late night. We had to use a neighbour’s phone to call a worker from the hotel who came after 5-10 minutes. 4) Three is no walk-in closet as written on the profile. 5) The breakfast saloon was ICE cold. We needed winter jackets not to freeze. The selection of breakfast products was very limited but fair

The location was clean and there is enough space to park...
The location was clean and there is enough space to park your car on the property.
The first night we were the only guests so we had to take our breakfast in our room without a real table and not enough plates and cutlery. You need a car to get anywhere. Due to low season the restaurant on the property was closed.

- Spacious room - Pretty buildings - Friendly hostess
- First of all, if this would have been marketed as a B&B for half the price we paid, I think that would be alright, marketing it as a 4-star hotel is simply misleading. - There was nobody at the premises, we were the only guests, no personnel except for check-in & check-out at times we had to pre-arrange. The services advertised on the website were all closed, i.e. the restaurant or the jacuzzi. - Not suitable for single travellers, it feels unsafe at night to be totally alone with a single lock in the middle of nowhere. - For breakfast we received a tray of basic breakfast items to eat in our room crouched over our coffee table, sitting on the sofa. For the price of the room this is outrageous!
